First Edition of SIIS MUN

Sadhana International School’s Model United Nations (SIIS MUN) is an exclusive and prestigious platform designed for Grades IX and X students to develop essential 21st-century skills through meaningful global engagement. SIIS MUN 2025, the inaugural edition of the conference, aspires to empower young minds by offering a dynamic space for dialogue, diplomacy, and collaborative problem-solving on international affairs. SIIS MUN provides an immersive environment for students to enhance their diplomatic acumen, critical thinking, negotiation skills, and public speaking abilities and prepares the delegates to be global, informed citizens.

1.UNESCO

UNESCO is the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations founded in 1945. Its mission is to build peace through education, science, culture, communication, and information. UNESCO works towards promoting intercultural dialogue, sustainable development, and eradicating poverty

2.UNHRC

The Human Rights Council is an intergovernmental body of the United Nations, through which States discuss human rights conditions in the UN Member States. The Council’s mandate is to promote “universal respect for the protection of all human rights and fundamental freedoms for all” and “address situations of violations of human rights, including gross and systematic violations, and make recommendations thereon.”
The Human Rights Council was established in 2006 by Resolution 60/251 as a subsidiary body to the UN General Assembly. It replaced the former Commission on Human Rights, which operated from 1946 to 2006.

3.DISEC

DISEC stands for the Disarmament and International Security Committee, also known as the First Committee, of the United Nations General Assembly. This committee focuses on issues related to disarmament, international security, and threats to global peace, including the regulation of armaments and the development of international agreements on security matters.

4.UNODC

Started in 1997, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime works to make the world safer from drugs, crime, terrorism and corruption.
It works in 150 countries, building networks of cooperation across borders and providing reliable data and analysis. UNODC is also training judges, police officers and border officials as well as healthcare and social workers to make communities safer and more resilient.

5.ECOSOC

The Economic and Social Council is at the heart of the United Nations system to advance the three dimensions of sustainable development – economic, social and environmental. It is the central platform for fostering debate and innovative thinking, forging consensus on ways forward, and coordinating efforts to achieve internationally agreed goals. It is also responsible for the follow-up to major UN conferences and summits.
The UN Charter established ECOSOC in 1945 as one of the six main organs of the United Nations.

6.UNOOSA

The United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) works to promote international cooperation in the peaceful use and exploration of space, and in the utilisation of space science and technology for sustainable economic and social development. The Office assists any United Nations Member States to establish legal and regulatory frameworks to govern space activities and strengthens the capacity of developing countries to use space science technology and applications for development by helping to integrate space capabilities into national development programmes.

7.UNCDF

As a hybrid development and finance organization with a unique capital mandate, the UN Capital Development Fund is positioned to act as a catalyst in high-risk markets, particularly in Least Developed Countries, Small Island Developing States, and fragile/conflict-affected countries.
These environments often face significant barriers to attracting private and public capital, hampering the pace and scale of progress to achieving meaningful development outcomes.
UNCDF stands out as the only non-credit-rated UN entity with the capacity to deploy blended finance solutions, de-risk investment and unlock private and public capital at the last mile.

8.IP

The IPC isn’t a real UN committee,
It is assigned the task of reporting and photograph the events in the various committees.
There is no required mandate set for it. It depends mostly on the chairperson.
The delegate will be given a “beat” which is the committee that he/she will be reporting about.
The delegate sit in this committee will observe the deliberation and write a news article of atleast 150 words.
Some E.B members require one article for every committee session, others will require just one article for the entire conference.
